Pound Ridge Candidate Forum September 30

What We Stand For and What We Learned from the Forum

The recent League of Women Voters forum gave residents a clear choice between two very different approaches to leadership.

Our opponents defended a record of weak oversight, limited transparency, and dismissive governance. In contrast, we believe Pound Ridge deserves open, accountable, and forward-thinking leadership where residents are informed, engaged, and part of every major decision.

We’re focused on solutions that restore trust, strengthen financial responsibility, and protect our town’s character and unique environment for generations to come.

Key Takeaways and Our Approach from the Forum

Their Position

Their Position

Their Position

  • Claimed town finances are strong and well-managed despite inflated fund balance figures.

  • Dismissed the 20- month audit by the NYS Comptroller's Office as routine.

  • Minimized the importance of annual audits by the town's independent auditor as telling them something they already knew.

  • Insisted there were no consequences from late filings.

  • Declared Town Board meetings aren’t for dialogue.

  • Downplayed missteps on 7 Old Pound.

  • Framed re-election as their biggest challenge.

Our Solutions

Their Position

Their Position

  • We believe in clear, verifiable numbers and timely audits so residents know exactly where their tax dollars go.

  • We take oversight seriously. Audits exist to protect taxpayers and strengthen accountability.

  • We know late filings cost real money in higher borrowing rates and lost trust. We’ll file on time, every year.

  • We’ll open meetings for real conversation. Public input should help shape decisions, not be silenced.

  • We’ll pursue fiscally responsible decisions that relieve taxpayer burden and preserve open space.

  • Our focus is not about ambition, it’s about giving back to the town we proudly call home.
